Edible Cookie Dough FAQ

Have questions about edible cookie dough? Below are answers to common questions about our no-bake edible cookie dough, including ingredients, allergens, storage, shelf life, and shipping.

Allergen Information:

All of our no-bake cookie doughs contain wheat and soy.
Flavors with mix-ins (such as chocolate chips) may also contain milk.

None of our doughs currently contain tree nuts. Some flavors include an almond emulsion, which is an artificial flavor not derived from real almonds.

Some flavors contain peanut butter. These flavors are produced on the same equipment as other doughs, but are made either at the end of the day or on separate production days.

All products include full nutrition and allergen labeling.
If you have questions or specific allergen concerns, please contact us

What makes your cookie dough safe to eat?

Our edible cookie dough is safe to eat because it's made without eggs and uses heat-treated flour, eliminating the ingredients typically associated with raw dough safety concerns. That means it’s safe to enjoy straight from the spoon — no baking required.

Does your cookie dough need to be refrigerated?

No — our cookie dough does not need to be refrigerated before opening. We use only shelf-stable ingredients, and our dough has been tested by a certified food lab to confirm shelf stability.

Refrigeration can help extend freshness, but unopened jars are safe at room temperature. Once opened, we recommend refrigerating the dough to maintain quality through the best-by date.

Can I freeze your cookie dough?

Yes! Our cookie dough can be safely frozen for up to 6 months. Please note that jar lids may become brittle in very cold freezers.

After removing a jar from the freezer, allow it to thaw for 24 hours before opening.

Is it normal to see some oil around the top of the dough?

Yes — it is completely normal to see some oil around the top of the cookie dough. If the dough becomes warm (for example, during shipping or at an outdoor market), you may notice a small amount of natural oil separation inside the jar. The dough is still safe to enjoy.

If you choose to refrigerate warm dough, we recommend giving it a quick stir or removing any separated oil first. Refrigerating dough with separated oil can cause the oil to firm up and turn white. It’s still safe to eat — just not as pretty.

Is your cookie dough gluten-free?

No — we do not currently offer any gluten-free cookie dough options. Developing a gluten-free dough is something we hope to explore in the future.

Is your cookie dough vegan?

Most of our cookie dough flavors are vegan-friendly. A few flavors contain ingredients with milk powder, primarily from chocolate chips or other chocolate mix-ins. Vegan-friendly flavors are clearly noted in each product description.

Aside from those exceptions, our dough does not contain other animal-based ingredients. Please note that we use granulated cane sugar sourced from multiple suppliers, and some sugar suppliers may use animal byproducts during sugar processing.

Can I just eat the cookie dough right out of the jar?

Yes! Our cookie dough is safe to enjoy straight from the jar.
You can also get creative — use it as a dip, spread, filling, or even as a topping for ice cream.

What is the shelf-life of your cookie dough?

Our edible cookie dough has a 9-week shelf life from the production date, which applies before opening.

Once opened, freshness can vary based on handling and storage. For best results, keep the lid tightly closed, store the jar in a cool, dark place, and use clean utensils when scooping. Refrigeration can help extend freshness and is recommended about one week after opening.

Do you ship edible cookie dough?

Yes! Our edible cookie dough can be shipped anywhere in the United States. Because our dough is shelf-stable before opening, it does not require ice packs or refrigerated shipping.

During very hot weather the dough may soften slightly in transit, but it will still be perfectly safe to enjoy. If desired, you can refrigerate the jar after delivery to restore a firmer texture.

Can your dough be baked into cookies?

Our dough is made without eggs, so it won’t bake like a traditional cookie. When baked, it will typically spread and become flat and/or crispy, depending on oven temperature.

Instead, we recommend gently warming the dough for a soft, gooey texture similar to the center of a freshly baked cookie.

How far in advance should I order cookie dough gifts?

When gifting our cookie dough for birthdays or other special occasions, we recommend placing your order about 10 days in advance if it will be shipped, or up to 2 days before the event if you’re choosing local delivery.

If you have a specific date or special request, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to help with availability and custom ordering options.

Can I order Christmas holiday gifts early and have them shipped later?

Yes! During the holiday season, we offer ship-later options so you can shop early and receive fresh cookie dough closer to gift-giving time.

At checkout, select the shipping option labeled Holiday Delivery to have your order held and shipped during the designated holiday window. Standard shipping is also available if you’d prefer your order to ship right away.

Is your dough available in any retail stores?

Yes! Currently, our cookie dough is available in a few shops that are local to us:

Links below will take you to external retailer websites.

The product I want is on backorder. How long will it take to receive it?

We make fresh cookie dough weekly, and most backordered items are typically back in stock and ready to ship within about one week.

While we work hard to keep inventory available, popular flavors may occasionally sell out. If an item you’ve ordered is on backorder, we’ll prepare it in our next production run and ship it as soon as it’s ready.

If timing is important, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to check current availability.

How can I find information about product recalls?

If we ever need to recall a product, we will post alerts to all of our social media pages, send an alert to our email subscribers, and post an alert about it directly to our home page.
